Japan is one of the most photographed places on earth. But Disconnections isn't a postcard view of neon lights or quiet temples—it is a personal record of navigating one of the world’s densest societies during a period of profound personal shift.
Working exclusively with wide-angle prime lenses, the work brings you uncomfortably close to the street. In a country built on quiet boundaries and private spaces, the camera became a tool to break the distance: capturing late-night train commuters, rainstorms, quiet alleyways, and sudden, graceful moments of human warmth.
Presented in high-contrast black and white, Disconnections strips away the distraction of colour to focus entirely on light, gesture, and shadow. It is a reflection on presence, transition, and gratitude—and a record of being fully present in a world that never stops moving.
