About Paolo Maschio
“The camera heals what the heart cannot“
I believe the most powerful stories aren’t staged—they are stumbled upon.
Street photography completely transformed how I navigate the world, turning a lens into a medium of deep self-expression and self-reflection. I think that, ultimately, every image I take reveals just as much about me as it does about the scene, inviting you to view the world not only through my eyes but also through my feelings, one frame at a time.
My fascination with street photography is deeply linked to an interest in psychology—understanding human connection, perception, and what truly drives us. Therefore, my approach relies entirely on proximity and presence. Working almost exclusively with wide focal lengths, I step directly into the atmosphere of a moment. From the shadow-drenched alleys of Osaka to the sun-bleached streets of Morocco, I focus on the raw human emotion and unscripted collisions that define urban life. I’m one of those photographers that is more interested in the ‘why’ of photography than in the ‘how’.
Originally trained with a Master’s Degree in Software Engineering, my focus started shifting when I first picked up a camera, and today this craft takes me around the globe year-round. Over time, this practice has expanded beyond individual frames into community. Alongside exhibiting work across Europe and Asia, I lead regional chapters for international street photography collectives, host immersive workshops, and publish photo books dedicated to the subtle, everyday narratives we so often walk right past.
P.S.: I also make a mean Tiramisù.
