About Paolo Maschio

Self portrait of Paolo Maschio on a curved mirror

Hello!

My full name is Paolo Maschio. A long time ago, I earned a Master’s Degree in Software Engineering, but somewhere along the way, I picked up a camera. One thing led to another, and today this craft takes me around the world year-round.

Street photography completely transformed how I navigate life, rooted in the belief that the most powerful stories aren't staged—they are stumbled upon. It’s a medium of deep self-expression; as you look through my images, you’ll find they ultimately reveal just as much about me as they do about the subjects themselves, inviting you to see the world through my eyes, one frame at a time.

My work relies on proximity and presence. Shooting almost exclusively on wide focal lengths (24mm, 28mm, and 35mm), I step directly into the immediate atmosphere of a moment—capturing the quiet geometry, raw human emotion, and lived-in grit of urban enclaves. From the shadow-drenched alleys of Tokyo and Osaka to the sun-bleached streets of Morocco, I seek to record the unscripted collisions between human connection and environmental intimacy.

Over time, this practice expanded beyond the lens into community. Beyond having my work featured in exhibitions across Asia and Europe, I lead regional chapters for international street photography collectives, host immersive workshops, and publish monographs dedicated to the subtle, everyday narratives we so often walk right past.

Beyond the camera, I’m deeply fascinated by psychology and the inner workings of the human mind—understanding what truly drives us, from how we process the world around us to how we relate and connect with each other.

P.S.: I also make a mean Tiramisù.
